Dr. Doug Clement
UBC coach, athlete, teacher and medical doctor, Dr. Clement introduced the concept of sport medicine to Canada and co-founded the UBC Sports Medicine Clinic. He participated in the Olympics as both an athlete and a coach, and has been inducted into three halls of fame along with being awarded the Order of Canada. Doug has also served on the medical team of the Vancouver Canucks.
Bill Paine
Bill is President of Encor International Inc; a company providing international energy industry consulting and related services. Bill formerly served for 14 years as the President of Terasen International during which time the company successfully carried out over 70 natural gas industry projects in more than 20 countries worldwide. He also currently serves on the Board of two Canadian public companies.
Amir Novin
Amir, a UBC graduate and Founder of Scoutme.ca, Canada's first athletic recruiting website, joined the Achilles Foundation in 2007. He has an extensive Sales & Marketing background in the realm of sports marketing, sports management and software. Amir continues to provide consulting work to sports organizations to explore new and innovative ways to broaden revenue models.
Valerie Jerome
Valerie Jerome is a retired elementary school teacher and a member of the Board of Directors of Achilles wherein she Co-Chairs the Marketing committee. Canada's national sprint and Long jump champion at age 15 , she has represented Canada in the Olympics, as well as Pan American and Commonwealth Games. As an International level track official she has chiefed at Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championships.
Hubert Kan
Hubert brings over 25 years in the Information Technology industry, specifically in the banking, dot-com, high-tech, and not-for-profit sector.Hubert is Director, Information Technology, at 2010 Legacies Now,where he presides over all technology initiatives for the organization. He also serves on the board of SportWeb, an organization that provides technology tools for the sports community.
Andre Smith
Andre is a former National Champion and Canadian record holder in the men's 400m. He represented Canada on various national teams including the 1988 Olympics, World Championships 1987, World Student Games 1985 & 1987 and the Commonwealth Games in 1986 where he won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay. After a successful career in sport, Andre pursued a career as a Sales and Management professional. Over the years he has served on the board of directors for Athletics Manitoba and volunteered for various organizational committees including the 1993 IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships and the Harry Jerome International Track Classic.
